About Simon Oh Collaborative Pianist
Simon Oh is a collaborative pianist who always seeks to be a trustworthy musical partner. He got a Master’s degree at the University of Oregon, majoring in Collaborative Piano. Under the guidance of Dr. Riley, he obtained the skills to truly support the soloists and be bright together on stage. As a Graduate Employee accompanist, he has accompanied in multiple studios and the Opera department. He received the Outstanding Performer Achievement Award in Collaborative Piano.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree at Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea, majoring in Music Composition. Due to his background in music composition, he interprets the pieces with a deeper understanding of composers’ intentions. He is also familiar with contemporary music, which he has learned throughout the undergraduate program. With two perspectives on Music Composition and Music Performance, he pursues the ideal harmony between a composer’s desire and a performer’s desire.

Sonata Collaboration
Being a true collaborator for all levels and all ages. Depending on the role of the piano parts of each pieces, performing in the best way to brighten my musical partners.

Accompanying
Imitating the orchestral sounds and timing, reflecting it to the actual performance, eventually showing the music beyond the piano reduction.

Vocal
Music
Delicate consideration of tempo, phrasing, and timing. Reflecitng the lyrics and its interpretation on the piano part, figuring out how to match the same mood between vocalists and me.

Finding the different way of help each performers, teaching the score study method, letting performers getting used to the balancing, phrasing, giving a cue, and cutting off.
